Ourzazate, stage to German movie 'Pope Joan'
German director Soenke Wortman on Saturday started shooting his movie "Pope Joan" in the southern city of Ourzazate.
Adapted from a novel by Donna Cross, the film tells the story of a 9th century woman of English extraction born in the German city of Ingelheim disguises herself as a man and rises through the Vatican ranks.
"Pope Joan" will bring together German actress Johanna Wokalek and Australian actor David Wenham, who will play the roles of Joan and Gerold respectively.
